My name is Hanneke Rats and welcome to Hanneke Rats Ceramics! Here you can find all my work over the years and information about courses and workshops.
I started making ceramics when I became a member of the BKT (Practices of Ceramic Techniques) in Eindhoven in 1999. Initially I started with hand molding, but gradually I learned that ceramics consisted of more than just clays. I learned the basics of shooting from Joop Crompvoets (in the summer of 2004) and continued with this at the BKT. I really like all ceramic techniques, but turning is my favorite thing to do. It's also exciting, you never know what will come out!
The ceramics have given me a form of expression in which I can lose a lot of myself. It makes me happy and I love making beautiful things. I hope you enjoy looking at my work as much as I enjoyed making it!
At the beginning of 2013 I started in my own studio. My husband Frits and I designed it together, after which he built it in our backyard. It gives me the unique opportunity to make ceramics in my own way and in my own time. In addition, I give modeling workshops to beginners and advanced students and occasionally there is a children's party. I also like to make ceramics to order. For this you can contact me via the contact page of this website.
